Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!

As it is Easter this weekend, I thought that it would be a good idea to ask you to use a rabbit somewhere on your card/artwork for the Tanda Teaser. My card is not an Easter card, but it does have a rabbit on it.
I used stamps from the Tanda toddlers set, these were stamped in Black Soot Distress Ink and then coloured using copic markers.

V is for Vase

Over on Linda's alphabet challenge this week V is for Vase. I bought this stamp from Stamp Addicts a while ago now and hadn't used it yet, but Linda's challenge gave me the perfect excuse to get it out of the draw. I stamped the image in Black Soot Distress ink and then coloured it with Copic markers. The flowers and vase were stamped again and then decoupaged. The vase and flower centres were coated in Glossy Accents and then I used Stickles on the flower centres just to add a bit of sparkle.

Last min or what!!!

Last night was a little manic to say the least!! My youngest came home from school and demanded to be taken into Worcester to buy stuff to make a cushion...had to be made and handed in by lunchtime today...Apparently her class had started this when she was off on the school trip and this was the first we got to know of it! She had the design and the front of the cushion but school didn't have the colours that she needed in textile paints so she had used acrylic paints which really didn't work..so we started from scratch...luckily I'm a crafty mum!

One of my textile paints was a bit watery and bled very quickly so we had a quick lesson in felting...made a felted flower to go over the flower that bled..I think it saved the day.Sarah said that sewing teacher was gob smacked by cushion and didn't notice the "little accident!" LOL!!!..all in all, the final cushion used stamping, stencilling, couching, painting, beading, felting and general sewing. I probably covered more techniques with Sarah in one evening than the teacher would have done in a year....not conviced with the textiles when they don't show the kids how to trim seams and turn corners!... Have to say I got lots of hugs from Sarah for saving the day! BLESS!

To top it all, I have an old Singer sewing machine...well not that old...just about 17 years old and I've kept it for the girls to use and bought myself an super duper Husky!...never to be touched by kids....guess what..just when I needed the singer to perform it had a hissy fit...so Sarah has had to use my Husky afterall!!

Now the debate is do I get the singer repaired..or do I let Sarah use my Husky? Just not sure!

ps..just have to add.. the brief for the cushion was for a modern design, using bright colours and something to do with nature..I guess she nailed it, but have to say it's not my choice....really love the waves though!

Teen Times

Hi Wendy's Tanda Teaser this week is to make a card for a teen! Having two teenage daughters I have loads of teen cards to make and have noticed that there is a bit of a gap in the market for teen stamps, especially those aimed at boys! So much so that I have finally succumbed and used digital stamps! Mikey, Holly and Madison from http://www.charmedcardsandcrafts.co.uk/index.html fit the bill perfectly..I just wish that they were available as stamps!

My cards this week were for Emma's friends, Emma and Alice, who are twins. I used copic markers to colour the images, and well I couldn't face not using a stamp somewhere so the background was stamped using a denim background stamp from Graphicus. Distress inks have been used to distress the edges of the card, tags and flowers. The leaves were punched from spray inked card.

15 Mins of Fame!

Hey...Just wanted to check in and tell you all about what happened this morning....Anyone who knows me from the Tanda forum will know that my daughter is keen on singing, and those following the general chat will know that Em is currently taking part in a national on-line singing competition...she is now in the final 4!! Way to to Em!

This morning...very early...7.30am we were invited into BBC Hereford and Worcester studios for an interview and for Em to sing live on the breakfast show! She was really nervous, but considering this was her first time singing live and talking on the radio she was totally awesome! I know that presenters are always enthusiastic, but I think that Howard Bentham was genuinely impressed.

Please check out the following iplayer link....It's cued up for the beginning of the interview...just hold on a bit for Emma's singing it's totally worth it!

Iplayer is only available for 1 week so if you miss it...tough!...but watch this space!

Keeping everything crossed!

Happy St Patricks's Day!

Without even realising it I seem to have gone along with the St Patrick's Day theme...my card for this week's Tanda Teaser is green and has Celtic designs all over it! Fear not, if you don't celebrate St Patrick's Day, the theme for the Tanda Teaser is to use an aperture somewhere on your card.

For my card I used stamps from Tanda Celtic Set 1, stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in gold embossing powder. The card was then painted with US ArtQuest mica colour Vintage paints which gave the image a lovely metallic effect. The aperture was made using nestie dies and the central circle pendent was also cut using nestie dies. The card was decorated inside and out......

I hope you find time to join us over at Tanda Stamps this week...we look forward to seeing your take on our Teasers.

Simply Spring!

Wendy has set the perfect Tanda Teaser this week! With Mother's Day on Sunday I had the perfect excuse to make a floral spring card..well two actually. They are both the same so hopefully there won't be any thoughts of favouritism!
For my card I used one of my favourite PSX stamps stamped in Ancient Page ink and then water coloured with ordinary watercolour paints.
I hope you can all find time to join in over on the Tanda Blog!

A Stamped Card With More Swirls and Curls

Linda's alphabet challenge this week is S for stamping, how could I resist especially as Moth Fab (stampotique) arrived on my doorstep a few days ago! I've been waiting for her to come back into stock for ages so when she arrived I was keen to introduce her to ink and paper! I stamped her in Black Soot and coloured her with Copic markers, then I used distress inks to ink around her and to stamp swirls around the edges of the card. I layered her up with some olive green, spray inked, card and stitched around the layers twice. I distress inked the base of the base card with Milled Lavender and stamped more swirls again in Milled Lavender. Then I stuck the stitched panels into place.

I cut a tag out (Spellbinders die), stamped it and then coloured it before running it through the swirls Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. Then I distress inked it again to pick out the embossing. The flowers were punched from card that I had distress inked and stamped with swirls. The layers of the large flower were embossed in the same way as the tag. The leaves were punched out of a piece of spray inked card. I only saw this punch on Wednesday and thought how nice it was, so much so that I had to go back to the shop and get it yesterday. I'm really glad I did, as I can already see that it is going to be very versatile, even it I did have to stand on it to get it to punch!

Having made the card I realised that it would fit the "Tuesday Taggers" Swirls and Curls challenge and hopefully give me the chance to take part in the competition to win some goodies from "Crafty Individuals"

Oh I almost forgot....just remembered that I used a little bit of Sakura pen to add a tiny bit of subtle glitz...just saw it on the close up while I was previewing this post!

Transport of Delight!

This week it is my turn to post the Tanda Teaser and as we seem to have rather a lot of male birthdays in the family at the moment I have a chosen a theme that is suited to the ever problematic "man card".
For my card I have used distress inks to colour the card and to stamp the images. The motorcycle and crackle stamps are both from TandaStamps. The tag was cut out using a spellbinders die, stamped, run through the Cuttlebug embossing folder, distressed with ink and then edged with Krylon. The main image was layered up under a layer of acetate, with co-ordinating card and distressed card and attached to the main card with brads.
The photo corners are actually cut with Spellbinders dies from Coke cans coloured with alcohol inks.
I hope that I haven't made the challenge too difficult for you this week and that you get a chance to join in!

Tuesday Taggers, Curly and Swirly Challenge

Just seen over on Zoe's blog that this week's Tuesday Tagger challenge is Curly Swirly, sponsored by Crafty Individuals. Just had to join in and as "Crafty Individuals" is one of my fav stamp companies I thought that I really should use their stamps for my card....

My curly swirly element is in the background you can only just see it but trust me it is there! It is a beautiful swirly flourish provided by one of my favourite CI stamps namely CI182. the main image is CI204, water coloured and accented with Glossy Accents. The tartan ribbon was from Fantastic Ribbons and just seemed to be perfect with the thistle motif.

Must dash...got to start tea!
